DAY FOUR Training

Baucau 12-06-2025 ICFP teachers attended training from trainers from the Philippines to share about the strategies they taught in class during the week.
This training is carried out through cooperation between the Catholic Institute for Teacher Training (ICFP) and Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU)

Today's topic is Lead Beyond the Bell: Inspiring People, Driving Learning, Shaping School.
Leadership is a social process that allows individuals to work together to achieve results they could never achieve working alone. It is characterized by three key outcomes: direction, alignment and commitment.
Leadership is a set of mindsets and behaviors that align people in a collective direction, enable them to work together and achieve shared goals, and help them adjust to changing environments.
Every leader, to some extent, does the same thing. Whether you’re talking about an executive, a sports coach, or a school teacher, leadership is enabling others to accomplish something they couldn’t do on their own. Some people in formal leadership positions are bad leaders, and many good leaders have no formal authority. In this sense, leadership is something you do and not something you are. It is a person’s actions, rather than their words or job title, that inspire trust and commitment.
Further, leadership is not something people are born with. Because good leadership is often expressed through behaviour rather than personality, it is a learnable skill. How? Knowing yourself is a key first step. The most effective leaders are acutely aware of their own thoughts and beliefs and show up with integrity as their authentic selves.
Solve problems effectively
Effective leaders know that what works in one situation won’t necessarily work every time. Leadership strategy should reflect the context of an organization. For example, a situational approach allows executives to focus on the leadership behaviours that are most relevant to the organization as it evolves.
